PALM HARBOR - A Virginia man was killed Tuesday night when he was hit by a vehicle while crossing Curlew Road in Palm Harbor.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Jonathan Barron, 38, was crossing Curlew Road in the crosswalk on the east side of the intersection of U.S. 19 about 10:15 p.m. Feb. 25. He was crossing from south to north against the traffic control signal when he walked into the path of a 1997 Ford Explorer driven by Cheryl Lynn Hoffman, 46, of Clearwater, who was traveling westbound in the inside lane of Curlew Road approaching U.S. 19.
Barron was airlifted to Bayfront Medical Center where he later died. Next of kin notification is pending.
The crash was not alcohol related. Hoffman was not injured. Charges are pending.
