PALM HARBOR Ė Every year, Relay For Life teams across the country raise more than $400 million for the American Cancer Society; all funds go to research, accommodations during treatment and recovery programs.
The American Cancer Society estimates that 1.7 million new cancer cases will be diagnosed in the United States in 2014.
This year, a combined 31 teams from Palm Harbor and Tarpon Springs have raised almost $20,000. The team will continue fundraising through May 2, at which point the campaign ends with the Relay for Life race at 6 p.m. at Palm Harbor University High School, 1900 Omaha St., Palm Harbor.
