PALM HARBOR – A Palm Harbor man suffered serious injuries in a three-vehicle crash that occurred about 2:30 p.m. July 8 on Tampa Road east of West Lake Road in Palm Harbor.
According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, Edward C. Darden, 76, was traveling westbound in the inside lane of Tampa Road just east of West Lake Road in a 1995 Nissan Sedan. Benjamin Keith Stevenson, 18, of Palm Harbor was driving a 2008 Honda Sedan and Thomas J. Scharf, 49, of Largo was driving a 2007 Ford F150. Both vehicles were stopped in the left turn lane on Tampa Road.
For unknown reasons, Darden’s vehicle drifted into the left turn lane and struck the right rear of Stevenson’s car. The Honda then struck the trailer being towed by the Ford truck. Darden was extricated from his car and transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital. No other injuries were reported. Charges are pending.
