Motorists drive with caution the morning of July 11 while Florida Highway Patrol troopers work the scene where a pedestrian was struck and later died. One lane of traffic was closed for about two hours.
PALM HARBOR – A Holiday woman died Friday morning after being hit by a car about 6 a.m. on U.S. 19 north of Tampa Road.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Michael Paul Marinin, 38, of Tarpon Springs was traveling northbound on U.S. 19 in a 2006 Toyota Corolla just north of Tampa Road in the outside lane. Rhonda Angelica Dreher, 49, was in the center grass median.
The FHP investigator said Dreher ran eastbound across U.S. 19 and into the path of Marinin’s car. She was transported to Mease Countryside Hospital where she died about 7:30 a.m.
