TARPON SPRINGS - Beckett Bridge repairs have been completed and the bridge is scheduled to be re-opened Wednesday, Sept. 19. Pickup of barricades will begin at 8 a.m. County crews will be on-site to prepare the bridge for opening to traffic.
The Beckett Bridge on Riverside Drive in Tarpon Springs was closed Monday to allow engineers to complete an evaluation of a problem in the roadway that arose overnight. The issue on the eastbound side of the bridge was repaired by county staff.
This historic bridge was originally constructed of timber in 1924 and rebuilt in concrete in 1956. There have been major repairs to the structure in recent years with the latest repair completed in 2011.
