The ongoing sidewalk improvements project of Tarpon Woods Boulevard is set for completion the end of November. The cost of the one-third mile section is about $250,000, county officials say.
PALM HARBOR – Motorists near East Lake Road can expect traffic delays over the next few weeks.
Pinellas County crews are working on sidewalk improvements on Tarpon Woods Boulevard and Tanglewood Trail. Construction is anticipated to be completed in approximately two months, barring unforeseen delays, officials said.
Construction costs are estimated at approximately $250,000. The project will add concrete sidewalks along Tarpon Woods Boulevard one third of a mile to East Lake Road and 200 feet north on Tanglewood Trail.
A pedestrian bridge will be built along the Brooker Creek tributary, and a new boardwalk will run adjacent to the Tarpon Woods Country Club.
With all of the improvements, drivers may see some small delays over the coming weeks as traffic will be down to one lane.
“I would imagine for safety purposes, the contractor tries to get traffic away from equipment,” said Ivan Fernandez, section manager for Pinellas County. “Because they’re working on the side of the road, they can’t have traffic running right along the edge they’re working on.”
Drivers can expect to see orange barrels, barricades, holes and mounds of dirt until the roadwork is done.
