PALM HARBOR – Pinellas County Sheriff’s detectives released a composite sketch of a man wanted in connection with an attack on a 49-year-old Palm Harbor woman.
The attacked happened about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26 at 3420 Brain Road South in Palm Harbor.
The suspect is a white male, about age 22, who was wearing long light gray cargo shorts and black sneakers. He was not wearing a shirt or socks.
According to investigators, the victim had just finished jogging and was walking in the roadway, when an unknown suspect, grabbed her from behind, put his left arm around her neck in a chokehold and brought her to the ground. The suspect then touched her inappropriately.
Detectives say the victim began to scream and the suspect got up and ran away ahead of her. She was only able to see him from behind.
A neighbor drove past. The victim flagged him down and explained that she had just been assaulted and provided him with a general description. The neighbor then drove her home and began to circulate the area. He told deputies he saw the suspect running down the road and said he was able to get a look at his face.
The Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit responded to track the area with no results.
The neighbor has assisted detectives in developing a composite sketch of the suspect.
Anyone with information that may assist detectives in identifying the suspect is asked to contact Detective Jeff Capra of the Robbery/Homicide Unit at 727-582-6200.
