PALM HARBOR - Bought back by popular demand, Old Palm Harbor Main Street is now hosting a First Friday event in Palm Harbor.
The next event is on Nov. 2, 5 to 9 p.m., at 1190 Georgia Ave.
The focus of these First Friday Events is to enrich the sense of community and families in Palm Harbor and to raise money to install street lights on Florida Avenue.
So far the past four months have been a great success and each month more and more families are attending. The ever so popular Food Trucks from Tasting Tampa have been promoting the event each month with a great selection of the most favored food trucks.
On the First Friday of every month 10 to 12 food trucks such as the Taco Bus and Jimmy Meatballs will roll into Palm Harbor and attract hundreds of hungry people.
In addition to the food trucks, Bay Harbor Sounds will rally up some great music and get the whole family out dancing.
Every month there will be a different themed competition for the families to participate in. For October, organizers sponsored a watermelon seed spitting contest and interestingly enough a 9-year-old boy could spit a watermelon seed 25 feet.
For November, with the help of the Palm Harbor University Key Club members, organizers are hosting a sidewalk chalk competition for people of all ages.
Many Palm Harbor businesses have supported Main Street by donating items and gift certificates for us to give away at the events.
