Billy’s Tarpon Turtle, 1513 Lake Tarpon Ave., features a full bar, an upscale menu and outdoor dining on Lake Tarpon.
TARPON SPRINGS – One of north Pinellas County’s most popular lakefront restaurants is back in operation.
Bill Hotaling, a longtime bar and restaurant owner in Toledo, Ohio, has purchased the former Tarpon Turtle Grill and Marina, 1513 Lake Tarpon Ave., and is currently open for business with a new name – Billy’s Tarpon Turtle.
Hotaling closed on the 5,000-square-foot property in late July and recently reopened the waterfront eatery.
“We’re finishing it up,” he said last week. “We have the inside all done. We’ll have the outside finished in the next week or two.”
The interior features a full bar with a new satellite bar outside near the restaurant’s 18 boat slips on Lake Tarpon.
Hotaling said he has plans to add signage on Keystone Road, directing patrons to the location. He said differences with the city of Tarpon Springs that a previous owner had have been resolved.
Hotaling said the menu is more upscale than it was under the previous ownership with steak, seafood and an array of appetizers, among other entrees, that are moderately priced.
