PALM HARBOR - Installation of lights at two Palm Harbor fields officially has begun.
Erica Lynford, director of Palm Harbor Parks and Recreation, made the announcement Oct. 17. Work began at Sunderman Fields first, and was estimated to take four weeks to complete.
Lighting at Putnam Park would be installed next, taking about the same time to complete.
“We should be out the door completed, with all weather delays possible, by the end of the year,” Lynford said.
Parks and Recreation received $1 million in Penny for Pinellas funds to pay for the project. Lynford said she signed a check for $916,000 to pay for the installation.
“We’re actually saving $84,000 over original estimates that we got, which has been verbally committed to Palm Harbor Parks and Recreation for other capital improvements,” Lynford said.
