PALM HARBOR – A Clearwater man was critically injured in a crash about 1:40 a.m. Dec. 3 on southbound U.S. 19 at Nebraska Avenue.
According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, Daniel Charles Hullett, 29, was driving his 2000 Jeep Wrangler southbound in the center lane of U.S. 19 south of Nebraska Avenue in an area where the two southbound inside lanes on U.S. 19 were closed off using orange traffic cones for roadway construction.
Liduvino Riveron, 40, of Tampa also was traveling in the center lane ahead of Hullett in a construction dump truck. The dump truck began to slow to make a lane change into the center left lane and enter the construction zone.
Hullett failed to notice that the dump truck was slowing and collided with the back of the truck. After the impact, the Wrangler caught fire. Hullett suffered critical injuries and was transported to Bayfront Medical Center.
