PALM HARBOR – No children were injured Monday afternoon during a school bus crash on Innisbrook Drive east of Curbside Court in Palm Harbor.
Nelson Roberts, 67, of Palm Harbor was ticketed for improper passing.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Roberts was stopped facing west on Innisbrook Drive east of Curbside Lane about 4:30 p.m. while children got off a school bus ahead of him. The driver of the bus, Kimberly Reavis-Meyer, 49, of Tarpon Springs deactivated the hazard stop lights and moved forward to make a U-turn at Curbside Court to travel eastbound on Innisbrook.
Roberts attempted to pass on the left in the single westbound lane and the right side of his 1987 Dodge Dakota collided with the left front side of the school bus. Roberts suffered minor injuries and was treated at Florida Hospital of North Pinellas. None of the eight middle school students on the bus were injured.
