LEALMAN – Pinellas County Sheriff’s detectives are investigating the death of a Gulfport woman found dead at the La Quinta Inn in East Lealman Monday, Jan. 7.
Deputies were called to the La Quinta at 4999 34th St. N., St. Petersburg about 12:30 p.m. after motel staff discovered Destynee Nekole Burkes, 24, dead in her room.
As crime scene specialists processed the room, evidence showed that foul play might have been a contributing factor in the young woman’s death. Homicide detectives are currently following up on several leads obtained from witness accounts and evidence collected at the crime scene.
