City council tables proposal to expand recycling center
Article published on Friday, Jan. 20, 2006
PINELLAS PARK – The City Council at its Jan. 12 regular meeting tabled until Jan. 26 a proposal to expand an existing recycling center.

Trademark Metals, located at 9380 67th St., wants to enlarge its scrap metal and salvage facilities by building a new office building, paving parking lots and improving entry and exits to the property.

The matter was tabled because an annexation that was thought to be approved was not.

The annexation was approved at the Jan. 12 meeting, however, so the project is expected to move forward at the Jan. 26 council summit.

The council also approved on first reading the construction of a 63-unit multi-family townhouse development on about five acres of land at 10001 66th St. The land is located in a commercial zone, and the developers want to redesignate the area an ROR zone that would allow retail, office and residential properties.

In other matters the council named Edson Eugene Webb to the code enforcement board to fill the expired term of Sheila Bender, who did not seek reappointment.

The council also approved annexations for properties at 6043 105th Terrace, 11515 66th St., 6094 108th Ave., on the west side of 67th Street and three parcels north of 70th Avenue, and at 6199 and 6193 108th Ave.

Voluntarily annexations also were approved for properties at 11425 66th St., 11515 66th St., 6094 108th Ave., 6199 and 6193 108th Ave., 9380 67th St., and for three parcels on the west side 67th Street north of 70th Avenue.
