KENNETH CITY – Florida Highway Patrol investigators arrested a Seminole man Jan. 21 in connection with a Nov. 20 fatality crash in Kenneth City.
Fielden Bruce Odell, 31, of Seminole was driving a 2003 Dodge Ram at the time of the crash about 7:40 a.m. Nov. 20. He was traveling southbound on 71st St. N. approaching 50th Ave. N. when he attempted to pass another southbound vehicle.
According to FHP’s report, Odell over-corrected and traveled back across the roadway. The truck rotated clockwise before traveling into a culvert, becoming airborne, then overturning before finally colliding with a utility pole.
When the vehicle overturned, Odell was ejected from the vehicle. He suffered minor injuries and was transported to Bayfront Medical Center.
Odell’s passenger, Benjamin Jacob Staker, 34, of Kenneth City died at the scene.
Odell was charged with vehicular homicide and ticketed for no seatbelt. He was booked into the Pinellas County Jail Jan. 21 and released the same day on $10,000 bond.
According to jail reports, Odell was booked two times in 2007 and once in 2010 on domestic battery charges.
