Motorcyclist killed in crash PINELLAS PARK – A St. Petersburg man was killed on Feb. 25 when his motorcycle crashed into a sedan.
Ronald Kilman, 52, was pronounced dead at the scence from extensive injuries suffered in the early morning accident. Police said Kilman was riding his 2005 Honda motorcycle on Belcher Road at about 12:45 a.m. when it crashed into a 2000 Chevrolet Malibu operated by Magdalene Florez, 26, of Largo, who police said ran a red light at Park Boulevard and Belcher Road. Florez was treated at Northside Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
Police issue 52 citations PINELLAS PARK – City police issued 52 summonses for various traffic violations during a recent saturation event. Officer Eric Schroeder said the citywide DUI effort resulted in 19 tickets for speeding, three for driving without headlights, and others for miscellaneous violations. Nine criminal citations were issued, including three for driving on a revoked or suspended license and three for driving under the influence. Eight persons were arrested for possession of marijuana, possession of cocaine and other infractions.
Man arrested during traffic stop PINELLAS PARK – A city man was arrested on Feb. 20 during a traffic stop. Brian L. Bonsal, 48, was charged with possession of Xanax and on a warrant charging him with providing police with false identification. He remains in the Pinellas County Jail in lieu of $2,013 bail. Police said Bonsal was a passenger in a car that was stopped at about 5:10 a.m. An officer saw the suspect remove a bottle from the glove compartment and spill the contents into his hand. When Officer Chris Piccione asked Bonsal to show his hand the suspect placed one pill into the bottle and swallowed the rest. Following an examination by local fire-rescue personnel, Bonsal was taken to Northside Hospital for treatment and then arrested. The female driver was not charged.
Seminole man is arrested PINELLAS PARK – A Seminole man was arrested on Feb. 22 for alleged burglary. Felice T. Scroppo, 31, was charged with burglary. He was transported to the Pinellas County Jail. Police said the suspect was at the Watering Trough, 12333 66th St., shortly after midnight when he entered a storage room that contained a safe. Police said he was stopped by an employee before taking anything.
Woman nabbed for theft PINELLAS PARK – A St. Petersburg woman was arrested on Feb. 22 after she allegedly tried to steal items from a store. Brandy Ann Vazquez, 28, was charged with retail theft. She was released from the Pinellas County Jail after posting $150 bail. Police said the suspect was at the Wal-Mart Super Store, 8001 U.S. 19, at about 2:15 p.m. when she tried to walk out with approximately $24 worth of merchandise.
