PINELLAS PARK – Pinellas Park High School teacher Jonathan Dunn entered a guilty plea to two counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor March 5.
Dunn, 29, of Gulfport was arrested March 21, 2013 following an investigation after the school’s resource officer received a tip about an inappropriate relationship between a male teacher and female student.
The relationship is reported to have taken place during a three week time period in December of 2011 and included sexual activity both on and off the school campus, according to a police report. At the time of the relationship, the victim was 16 years of age and has since turned 18. The suspect is also accused of engaging in sexually explicit, online conversations, with the victim during the relationship period.
Dunn has originally charged with three counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor and one count of transmission of material harmful to a minor.
Circuit Court Judge Cynthia Newton sentenced Dunn to three years of incarceration followed by two years of sex offender probation. Dunn is now classified as a sex offender. Dunn, who was free on bail pending the trial, was immediately remanded by court officers and taken to the Pinellas County Jail.
It is unknown where Dunn will be sent to serve his time or how much time he will actually serve.
