Council, mayor’s seats up for grabs on March 11
Article published on Thursday, March 6, 2008
PINELLAS PARK – The run for at least one City Council seat on March 11 has six hopefuls reaching for the golden ring.

That seat is held by Councilwoman Patricia Bailey-Snook who is retiring to live out the rest of her days in North Florida. The March 13 council meeting will be her last and caps decades of public service as a councilwoman, a mayor and a state representative.

Seeking her seat are Mary Brennan, Randy Heine, Patti Johnson, Edward Kosinski, Patricia Macfarlane and Jerry Mullins.

Seeking re-election is Councilman Rick Butler. His sole opponent is Marshall Cook who has done no pre-election politicking nor has he attended any council meetings in recent months. Reports are that Cook has been ill with a diabetes-related ailment.

Mayor Bill Mischler is being challenged by Janet Macumber, a relative newcomer to both local politics and city residency.

Polls on Election Day open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. There have been some changes in polling places. They include:

• Precinct 194 from Mainlands of Tamarac by the Gulf No. 2 to Mainlands of Tamarac by the Gulf No. 4, 9950 Mainlands Blvd. E.

• Precincts 259, 265, 268, 273, 276 from the German-American Club to the Tech Services Building, 6051 78th Ave.

• Precincts 269, 272, 288 from Our Lord of Good Hope to McKee Lake Alliance Church, 5972 62nd Ave.

• Precinct 280 from Pine Grove Community Church to Forbes Recreation Center, 6401 94th Ave.

• Precinct 292 from Lighthouse of Pinellas, Inc. to the Minnreg Building, 6340 126th Ave.
