Code enforcement officials will not remove political signs
Article published on Thursday, March 6, 2008
PINELLAS PARK – The city’s community compliance officers will not remove political signs from rights of way because the boundary lines are difficult to determine.

Susan Walker, neighborhood services administrator, said most candidates make an effort to comply with city codes when erecting their signs on private property. She said both the public and city officials sometimes have difficulty determining where pubic lands begin and end.

“We will not remove political signs,” Walker said in a letter to Michael Gustafson, city manager. “We will attempt to have property owners or tenants move signs away from sidewalks.”

There are 10 candidates running for office this election season.
