Pinellas Park’s Rescue No. 33 waits on an apron for its next emergency call.
PINELLAS PARK – The Fire Department’s EMS Division received an outstanding rating from the Florida Bureau of Emergency Medical Services during a recent compliance monitoring inspection.

Compliance inspections generally are unannounced and conducted by a team of paramedics that travel throughout Florida to make sure each provider complies with EMS standards as established by state law.

In a letter from John Bixley, state EMS bureau chief, Pinellas Park was given high praise for its emergency service operations.

“Thank you for being a role model of excellence as an EMS provider in the state of Florida,” Bixley wrote. “Your continued support of emergency medical services is deeply appreciated.”

Pinellas Park’s EMS Division is under the direction of Chief David Holler. Of the approximately 14,000 calls last year, 85 percent of them were EMS-related.

The city operates five stations and employs 34 paramedics and 37 Emergency Medical Technicians to staff its six Advanced Life Support units and three Basic Life Support units.
