KENNETH CITY – Kenneth City police, aided by the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, successfully talked a suspect into giving himself up after he barricaded himself into his home after threatening his roommates with a shotgun.
According to a report from Kenneth City police, the roommates, Brian Hughes, 34, and Zane Earnst, 42, came to the station about 11:30 p.m. March 22 and told police that their roommate Justin Peters, 31, was intoxicated and verbally arguing with them. They said Peters had pointed a shotgun at them, threatening their lives.
Kenneth City Police Department and the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene. The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office Swat and Negotiating Team responded as well.
Communication with the suspect went on throughout the early morning hours. Eventually communications with Peters stopped. At approximately 11:30 a.m. March 23 the SWAT team made entry into the residence on 56th Way North and apprehended him without incident.
Peters booked into to the Pinellas County Jail on two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count of felon in possession of a firearm. Bond was set at $20,000.
