Arrests made at sobriety checkpoints
PINELLAS PARK – The Florida Highway Patrol hosted a multi-agency Comprehensive Roadside Sobriety Checkpoint on March 27 on U.S. 19 and Mainlands Boulevard and, on March 28, the FHP hosted a DUI Wolfpack along I- 275 between the Howard Frankland Bridge and 58th Avenue as well as along Gandy Boulevard between the Gandy Bridge and 66th Street.

The FHP, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, St. Petersburg Beach, Largo, and Pinellas Park police departments participated in the two events. The enforcement efforts resulted in three DUI arrests, 38 citations and 17 misdemeanor and five felony arrests. On the second night police made four DUI arrests, two arrests for driving while a license was suspended and 89 other citations.

Motorist arrested after traffic stop
PINELLAS PARK – A Clearwater man was arrested on March 23 following a traffic stop. Jonathan W. Hoag, 36, was charged with driving on a suspended or revoked license, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of cocaine. He was released from the Pinellas County Jail after posting $2,813 bail. Police said Hoag was driving a 2000 Chrysler sedan at about 2:25 a.m. when he was stopped by police on 125th Avenue near 66th Street. Officers allegedly found a small bag with cocaine in Hoag’s pocket and drug paraphernalia in the car.

Man jailed after altercation
PINELLAS PARK – A Pinellas Park man was arrested on March 21 following an altercation at a local bar. Kyle C. Delong, 22, was charged with possession of marijuana. He was released from the Pinellas County Jail after posting $150 bail. Police said Delong was at the Watering Trough, 8500 Belcher Road, at about 1:35 a.m. when security guards suspected him of smoking marijuana. He was asked to leave, but then allegedly screamed at the guards and resisted their efforts to remove him from the establishment. The suspect was restrained by the time police arrived.
