Suspect steals from cab driver PINELLAS PARK – A Pinellas Park man was arrested for robbing his cab driver April 12, according to the Pinellas Park police. The cab driver reported that his passenger reached through the open window of the cab and stole cash from him instead of paying, prompting a police response to the 6200 block of 34th Street at 2:51 a.m. He gave a description of the man. An officer in the area saw a man that matched the description walking away from the scene. Police stopped Babyface Floyd, 29, and after investigating, arrested him for robbery by sudden snatching, a felony, and petit theft. He was booked into the Pinellas County Jail, where he remains in lieu of a $3,000 bond.
Two arrested for vehicle burglary PINELLAS PARK – Pinellas Park police responded to a burglary in progress in the 6600 block of 100th Avenue April 12, after a resident reported seeing two men breaking into a neighbor’s car.
The department’s K-9 unit located one of the suspects. An officer found the second suspect, with a watch, flashlight, keys, cigarettes, a lighter, and a headlight from the burglarized car in his possession.
Lane Barrs, 21, and Matthew Rhine, 22, both of Pinellas Park were arrested for burglary, after witnesses identified them as the perpetrators. Additionally, Rhine was charged with resisting arrest and burglary, after trying to escape police through the back patio of the house. They were booked into the Pinellas County Jail.
Man arrested for child neglect PINELLAS PARK – A St. Petersburg man was arrested April 11 for child neglect after witnesses said they saw him almost drop a 5-month-old child several times as he was walking around The Shoppes at Park Place, Pinellas Park police reported. Douglas Sears, 43, was first seen near the bus stop behind the Target and appeared intoxicated, according to department spokesman Sgt. Brian Unmisig. Due to his level of intoxication, police deemed him unfit to provide proper supervision and he was arrested for child neglect, a felony. The child was uninjured and given to the care of a relative. He was booked into the Pinellas County Jail, where he remains in lieu of a $7,000 bond.
Woman arrested for cocaine PINELLAS PARK – A Pinellas Park police officer patrolling the area around LaMark Charles Motel, at 6200 34th St. found crack cocaine in the possession of a woman he arrested for trespassing April 11, according to reports. Olivia Varnadoe, 29, of Seminole had been given a prior warning to stay off of the property in June 2011, said department spokesman Sgt. Brian Unmisig. The officer approached her and a man she was with because they seemed suspicious. Varnadoe was booked into the Pinellas County Jail on charges of home solicitation, tresspassing and possession of cocaine. She was released the same day on a surety bond of $5,750.
