Busy week for law police and firefighters
PINELLAS PARK – Police and firefighters were busier than usual this week. Some of the incidents included:

- John R. Wainscott, 27, died Wednesday night when his motorcycle crashed into a guardrail in the 6100 block of Bryan Dairy Road. Police said he lost control at a high rate of speed, struck a guardrail and was ejected into a concrete police light pole.

- An unidentified city police officer suffered non-life threatening injuries Wednesday when he lost control of his police motorcycle on the 49th Street ramp off U.S. 19.

- Police are looking for two men who forced their way into a home on 59th Street Wednesday and stabbed their victim.

Bicyclist killed crossing street
PINELLAS PARK – A bicyclist was killed April 26 when she was struck by a car while crossing Park Boulevard. Dead of multiple injuries is Misty Hickman, 22. No address for the victim was available Police said Hickman was crossing Park Boulevard near 43rd Street at about 5 a.m. when she was struck by a car driven by Willie Dyer of St. Petersburg. No charges are expected to be lodged against the driver.

DUI charges filed after traffic stop
PINELLAS PARK – A St. Petersburg man was arrested on April 18 after a traffic stop. Nathan F. Shaw, 22, was charged with DUI. He was released from the Pinellas County Jail after posting bail. He also is charged with running a stop sign. Police said Shaw was stopped by officers at about 10:10 p.m. at 90th Avenue and 58th Street. A subsequent field sobriety test allegedly determined that Shaw was under the influence of alcohol.

Man arrested after fleeing police
PINELLAS PARK – A Tampa man was arrested April 18 after fleeing on foot from police because he reportedly did not have a driver’s license. Gregorio Gonzalez, 38, is charged with driving on a suspended or revoked license and resisting arrest without violence. He was released from the Pinellas County Jail on $400 bail.

Police said officers were monitoring speeders on Park Boulevard near 43rd Street at about 10:15 p.m. when Gonzalez’s SUV was clocked moving at 64 mph in a 40 mph zone. The suspect parked the vehicle and fled on foot, but was apprehended minutes later. Officers discovered his unidentified girlfriend, who was not charged with a crime, in the front passenger seat.

Woman charged with theft
PINELLAS PARK – A St. Petersburg woman was arrested April 19 after she allegedly tried to leave a store without paying for merchandise. Kenya R. Wright, 24, is charged with retail theft. She was released from the Pinellas County Jail after posting $2,000 bail. Police said Wright allegedly took 57 items valued at $412.85 from the Wal-Mart store, 8001 U.S. 19. She allegedly offered to pay for the items in exchange for not getting arrested.
