Firefighters inspect trailer park
Article published on Thursday, May 1, 2008
PINELLAS PARK – Sunset Palms Mobile Home Park residents can rest a little easier thanks to the Pinellas Park Fire Department.

Firefighters recently went door to door to check batteries and smoke alarms for residents who signed up for the “Sunset Smoke Alarm Sweep.”

The idea for the inspection resulted after residents attended a fire safety presentation. Approximately 30 residents signed up to have their alarms checked or replaced.

“We normally schedule an appointment with a resident to check their smoke alarm or install a new one,” said Suzanne Boisvert, the department’s public education specialist.

Firefighters inspected existing alarms, replaced batteries, and installed new alarms when necessary.

The smoke alarms and batteries were purchased through a grant from Sam’s Club and were installed free of charge.
