PINELLAS PARK – Pinellas Park police arrested a man who forced his way into a former co-worker’s home Thursday evening and threatened to kill him.
Pinellas Park police report that Ralph N. Chapman, 50, entered the home on 80th Ave N. about 5:50 p.m. As the resident David N. Wendel attempted to remove Chapman from his home, Chapman pulled a Ruger handgun from the rear of his pants and pointed it at Wendel, while threatening to kill him.
Chapman fled the scene and discarded the firearm in the rear of a residential yard prior to the arrival of police officers, who recovered the gun at the scene.
Police located Chapman and took him into custody at 6:51 p.m. He was booked in the Pinellas County jail on charges of armed burglary and aggravated assault. Wendel was uninjured.
