Home invaders open fire, rob two of money, phone PINELLAS PARK Three men on May 13 pushed their way into an apartment, pistol whipped one of three victims and fired several shots before taking about $200 in cash and a cell phone.
No one was seriously wounded, but police said a 19-year-old male, who lives on the 7400 block of 35th Street, suffered lacerations to the head after he was beaten with a revolver.
Detective Kenneth Blessing said the three victims who live in the same apartment, were at home about 1:50 a.m. when three men forced their way into the unit and demanded money.
The victims surrendered about $200 in cash and a cell phone. One of the gunmen pistol whipped one of the victims before one or more suspects opened fire.
Police said shots were fired inside and outside the apartment before the suspects fled on foot. The gunmen were described as white, between 17 and 20 years old.
Man critically injured in two-car accident PINELLAS PARK A 54-year-old man on May 13 was critically injured in a two-car accident. A. Kabir of St. Petersburg was treated at a local hospital for various injuries. The driver of the second car, Kevin J. Ness, 52, who lives on the 6700 block of 77th Terrace, was not injured in the pileup, which occurred shortly after midnight. Officer James McNeil said the vehicles collided at 66th Avenue and 66th Street. An investigation is continuing.
Officer recognizes driver he arrested last year PINELLAS PARK A woman with multiple traffic offenses was arrested May 25, 2005 for driving on a suspended license, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Officer Jason Nosal was at 58th Street and 64th Terrace at about 7:50 p.m. when he spotted Vickie Burton, 43, who lives on the 5300 block of 96th Terrace, driving a motor scooter. Recalling that hed arrested her last year and that her license was suspended, he pulled her over. A search of the scooter allegedly revealed a silver pipe and marijuana, police said.
Gulfport man injured in attempted robbery PINELLAS PARK A Gulfport man suffered foot and hand injuries May 4 after he was accosted by a suspect who robbed him of medication. Officer Taichiang Ku said the victim, 22, had just left G&H Pharmacy, located in a 66th Street strip mall near 62nd Avenue, when the robber took $135 worth of prescribed medication and fled on foot. An investigation is continuing.
Woman reports purse snatching PINELLAS PARK A St. Petersburg woman on May 6 reported to police that a bicycle-riding robber snatched her purse and fled. Officer Melinda Lane said Patricia M. Chessman, 40, left a saloon at about 1 a.m. when a man on a bicycle took her purse and fled.
Two teenagers arrested for burgling occupied home PINELLAS PARK Two youths were nabbed May 9 after they allegedly admitted to burglarizing a home. The teenagers, one from Largo and the other from St. Petersburg, were not identified because of their age. They were charged with burglary and possession of burglar tools.
Officer Taichiang Ku said he responded to the Shadow Run Apartments in the 12000 block of Belcher Road at about 11 p.m. after residents reported that three men were acting in a suspicious manner. Police said two of the suspects admitted to burglarizing an apartment. The third youth was not charged since it was determined that he was not involved in the actual burglary.
Indiana man arrested after hitting parked car PINELLAS PARK An Indiana man was arrested May 6 for driving under the influence after he allegedly crashed into a parked car.
Officer Steven Kozusko said Benjamin A. Long, 26, crashed into a parked car on 71st Avenue near 60th Street at about 3:50 a.m. Police said Long was arrested after he failed field sobriety tests.
