PINELLAS PARK – John R. Reese, 66, died May 14, 2007, of natural causes at the James A. Haley Veterans Hospital, Tampa.
A native of Brookhaven, Ga., he moved to Pinellas Park in 1971 from Fort Devens, Mass. He retired from the U.S. Army and again as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service.
A Christian, Mr. Reese was a U.S. Army Ranger and a member of the Special Forces. During his military career he won the Bronze Star, two Purple Heart medals and medals for Meritorious Service, National Defense Service, Vietnam Service, Republic of Vietnam Campaign, Army Commendation, Good Conduct with six devices, Vietnam Technical Service second class, Army Recruiter Badge, Army Career Counselor Badge, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm and the Meritorious Unit Citation.
Mr. Reese is survived by his wife, Sarah of Pinellas Park; two sons, Thomas of Forest, Miss., and Robert of Pinellas Park; a daughter, Sandra McGlynn of Pinellas Park; his mother, Ochal McAllister of Demorest, Ga.; a brother, Ned of Warren Robbins, Ga.; a half brother, Mark McAllister of Cleveland, Ga.; 16 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
