Local man arrested during raid on adult business
ST. PETERSBURG – A Pinellas Park man, who manages an adult establishment, and seven women were arrested May 23 during a police raid.

Charged with one count of allowing prohibited activity in an alcohol establishment is Jonathan Bell, 36, of Pinellas Park.

Bell, authorities say, manages Las Vegas Show Girls on Gandy Boulevard. Charged with nudity in an alcohol establishment were Summer Wolf, 28, of Largo; Courtney Scott, 22, of St. Petersburg; Leiska Veldestra, 31, of Medesto, Calif; Ishtar Geary, 22; Corinne Shaffer, 22; Brandy Bing, 20; and Angela Martinez, 19, all of Tampa. All were released from the Pinellas County Jail. Veldestra additionally was charged with possession of cocaine and marijuana. She posted $5,250 bail.

The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said the arrests culminated in an undercover operation that was sparked by numerous citizen complaints of illicit activity at the establishment. It was the second time in that many months that detectives from the vice unit made arrests after officers witnessed on-stage performances that included nudity. The sheriff’s office said it will continue to perform spot checks of this and other adult businesses.

Woman robbed during home invasion
PINELLAS PARK – Five men, some of them armed with pistols, on May 20 robbed a city woman of two safes containing undisclosed property. The victim, who was not identified, escaped injury. Officer Sean Letona said the woman returned to her home in the 3600 block of 105th Avenue about 10 p.m. when the suspects forced her into the house and held her at gunpoint. The robbers, police said, escaped with two safes that contained personal property. The suspects were described as young Asian males wearing hooded sweatshirts and bandanas on their faces.

Man arrested after dispute with neighbor
PINELLAS PARK – A city man was arrested May 19 following a dispute with a neighbor. Charged with disorderly conduct was Robert A. McBride, 39. He was released from Pinellas County Jail after posting an undetermined amount of bail Officer Bridget Creedon said the suspect and an unidentified neighbor became involved in a dispute over the welfare of the latter’s child. Police said he used profanity against the victim, neighbors and police officers who responded to the scene.

Motorist charged with DUI
PINELLAS PARK – A motorist was arrested May 18 after a police officer saw him allegedly driving erratically. Charged with violation of parole, third offense felony DUI and fleeing and eluding a police officer was Larry D. McManning, 51, of St. Petersburg. He was being held in the Pinellas County Jail in lieu of bail. Officer John McNeil was on a DUI saturation detail at about 10:45 p.m. when he saw the suspect allegedly driving erratically on U.S. 19 near 49th Street. Police said the suspect failed a roadside sobriety test.
