PINELLAS PARK – Pinellas Park police responded to a call about a shooting about 11:28 a.m. Monday, June 16, at a residence on 89th Avenue North.
According to the police report, officers found Jerry Wayne Wright, 35, inside the residence suffering from a gunshot wound.
Pinellas Park police public information officer Adam Geissenberger said the investigation is still in the early stages.
“So far we have discerned that an altercation took place between Wright and another black male subject,” he said in a press release. “During the altercation, the black male subject produced a handgun and shot Wright.”
Wright suffered serious injuries and underwent surgery earlier Monday evening. He remains in serious condition at an area hospital.
