PINELLAS PARK – Pinellas Park police report that two males tried unsuccessfully to rob a female victim about 4:18 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, at 9121 U.S. 19 N. in Pinellas Park.
The victim stopped at an ATM to withdraw some money. When she completed her transaction and started to walk back to her residence, she observed two Hispanic males following her. The victim told police that she had seen the subjects inside of the store when she was at the ATM.
As she walked from the store, the subjects approached her on the side of the convenience store parking lot. The victim said one of the subjects asked her if they could use her phone and she responded that she didn’t have one. The subjects then asked the victim for money.
When she told them that she didn’t have any money, one of the subjects told her that he saw her take money out of the ATM and that he wanted it. The victim said that she continued walking in an effort to get away from the men when one of the subjects got in front of her. As this was happening, the other subject ran east toward an area motel.
The remaining subject grabbed the victim’s purse by the strap, which was hanging from her shoulder. The victim told police that the man said that he had a knife and was going to “cut her, stab her and kill her.”
The victim also reported that the subject said, "I'm desperate and I want that money." The victim grabbed her purse with both hands and started yelling, "help!” The subject released his grip and ran toward the same motel as the other subject.
The subject who attempted to rob the victim is described as a Hispanic male, about 5 foot 8 inches tall, with a thin build. He was wearing a black shirt and green shorts. The man has short black hair, bad teeth and a neck tattoo. The victim believes the subject is 25 to 30 years old.
The other suspect is described as a Hispanic male, with dark short hair, 5 foot 10 inches tall with a thin build.
