Cyclist arrested after chase
PINELLAS PARK – A Clearwater man was arrested June 10 after a brief chase.

Kenneth Place, 44, is charged with fleeing and eluding police, driving on a suspended or revoked license, not having a motorcycle endorsement and on a warrant for not paying child support. He also received summonses for speeding 78 mph in a 45 mph zone and for not wearing a helmet.

Place was released from the Pinellas County Jail after posting $5,500 bail. Police said officers were monitoring traffic in the 6400 block of Bryan Dairy Road at about 11:15 a.m. when the suspect was clocked at 78 mph. Police waved him over, officers said, but Place sped off. He was apprehended minutes later while walking near a business.

Man nabbed after hit and run
PINELLAS PARK – A Seminole man was arrested June 10 after he allegedly slammed into the rear of a car and fled the scene. James J. Crotty, 34, is charged with hit and run with injuries and driving with a suspended or revoked license. He was released from the Pinellas County Jail after posting $5,500 bail. Police said at about 8:55 a.m. in the 6500 block of Park Boulevard Crotty rear-ended a car operated by Kerianne Stepanov, 32, of St. Petersburg and fled the scene. Stepanov was treated at an area hospital. A witness provided police with Crotty’s license plate number. The suspect later was arrested at his home.

Man charged with theft
PINELLAS PARK – A Seminole man was arrested June 6 after allegedly stealing a trailer. Shahram Rouhani, 29, is charged with aggravated battery and two counts of grand theft. He is being held in the Pinellas County Jail in lieu of $27,500 bail. Police said the suspect stole a 16-foot homemade trailer and struck its owner with it as he was fleeing the scene. The suspect was later arrested after police traced his license plate number to his home.

Man arrested at motel
PINELLAS PARK – An Ohio man was arrested June 8 after allegedly causing a scene at a motel. Charged with disorderly intoxication is William J. Stabila, 22, of Mineral Ridge. He was released from the Pinellas County Jail after posting bail. Police said the suspect was at the LaQuinta Motel, 7500 U.S. 19, at about 2:15 a.m. when he became disorderly.

Man charged with theft
PINELLAS PARK – A St. Petersburg man was arrested on June 8 for allegedly trying to steal a bicycle. Paul J. Shanley, 41, is charged with retail theft. He was released from the Pinellas County Jail after posting bail. Police said the suspect was at the Target store, 7150 U.S. 19, when he attempted to leave without paying for a bicycle.
