PINELLAS PARK – A man wanted in connection with the June 16 shooting in Pinellas Park is in custody June 26 after walking into a local fire department and surrendering to authorities.
According to a Pinellas Park police report, Kali Lemar Smith, 36, of Pinellas Park walked into the Lealman Fire Department about 1 p.m. Thursday and told staff that he had an arrest warranted and wanted to surrender.
Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office arrested Smith without incident. Bond was set at $35,013.
Smith was wanted by Pinellas Park police for the shooting of Jerry Wayne Wright, 35, who was found inside his home on 89th Avenue North suffering from a gunshot wound the morning of June 16. Smith was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. He was also wanted on a warrant for failure to appear on battery charges.
