PINELLAS PARK – The City Council on June 26 approved an ordinance that raises the fees of certain permits.
Virtually all fees have increased under the new measure that was unanimously approved on second and final reading.
Steve Lee, building development services supervisor, said while some fees rose from $25 to $50, a few new cost schedules were added.
Inspections of mobile homes, for example, will now cost $200. There was no charge for this service in the past. It involves inspecting trailer homes on site and before they are moved to another location.
So called “red tag” inspection fees for applicants who are denied approval the first time go from $25 to $50.
Many of the fees, one official said, have been in place for many years while the costs of doing inspections and fuel has risen dramatically.
In other matters, the council approved a resolution to vacate portions of drainage an utility easements located along the northeast and northwest property lines at 11345 Elmhurst Drive. A second measure authorizes vacation of sanitary sewer easements at 6900 U.S. 19.
The easements, one is 7.5 by 200 feet long and the other is 15 by 96 feet, are needed to complete the construction of a Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market on the property.
The council also approved a request to allow a 6-foot chain link fence with fabric sheeting as a substitute for a solid wall. The fence is used to shield from the public outdoor storage of vehicles and other items.
An ordinance was approved on first reading changing the land use at 6801 Park Blvd. from residential urban to commercial general. The three parcels were previously a used car lot. Future plans for the property were not immediately known.
The council approved the purchase of a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado for $21,827. The vehicle will be used by the police department’s narcotics division and was paid for with confiscated funds.
The council accepted the resignation of Ray Hoeneisen from the Community Projects Advisory Board and approved the reappointments of Sherry Armstrong, Peggy Kunda and Deborah Schladweiler as resident members and William DeLong, Daniel Lemon and Robert Pergolizzi as design professional members.
Eric Scherer was appointed teen member to the Pinellas Park Library Board.
