PINELLAS PARK – At its June 12 meeting, the City Council authorized the mayor to sign a cooperative funding agreement with the Southwest Florida Water Management District.

This deal awards the city $560,807 in matching funds for construction of new storm sewers for Park Boulevard drainage improvements.

The work is slated for Fiscal Year 2014/2015, though it’s included in the city’s Capital Improvement Program for design in Fiscal Year 2013/2014.

Council Oks payment for 49th Street landscaping

PINELLAS PARK – The City Council approved the final payment to Buccaneer Landscape Management Corporation for a 49th Street median landscape renovation project. The final payment, $23,760, represents a 17.1 percent increase over the original contract amount of $37,624.

City extends annexation agreement

PINELLAS PARK – The City Council authorized Mayor Sandra Bradbury to sign a third addendum to an annexation agreement between the city of Pinellas Park and MDK Properties, LLC and Farrell Homes, Inc.

The original agreement was dated July 13, 2006. The vacant property is located on 74th Street North and 75th Street North between 70th Avenue North and 71st Avenue North.

The site’s developers, MDK and Farrell Homes, initially requested a waiver of city land development fees applicable for the construction of 22 single-family homes. The fees were not to exceed $66,000 for a period of four years from the date of annexation.

Due to unforeseen delays, they were unable to complete the development and asked for an addendum extending the annexation agreement on Aug. 26, 2010 from four to six years. An Aug. 9, 2012 the addendum extended the agreement an additional two years to July 12, 2014. The most recent addendum adds another two years to the agreement.

So far three parcels have been developed, leaving 19 undeveloped.

The new property owners, Gulfwind Contracting, LLC, a national home builder, is interested in developing the remaining 19 parcels with single-family homes, and has already begun construction. They requested the third extension.
