PINELLAS PARK - Circuit Court Judge Cynthia Newton sentenced a Pinellas Park man July 30 to 437.4 months (36.5 years) in prison with a minimum mandatory term of 25 years.
In addition, Zachary Hulsey, 22, was designated a violent felony sexual predator.
Hulsey was arrested Oct. 28, 2012 and charged with false imprisonment, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, three counts of sexual battery on a child and one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Pinellas Park Police officers and detectives investigated reports in October 2012 that a 12-year-old female was the victim of a violent and prolonged sexual attack by a male and female.
The girl was held at knifepoint and Hulsey repeatedly sexually battered her. The girl was held against her will for several hours while being threatened that she would be killed if she resisted Hulsey.
Brettany Hamlin, 22, of Clearwater was arrested Nov. 8, 2012 and charged with false imprisonment. Police said she assisted Hulsey by holding the victim down and attempting to console the victim while the girl was assaulted by Hulsey.
“At no point did Hamlin attempt to stop or hinder the attack against the victim,” according to a police report.
Hamlin was sentenced on June 19, 2013 to four years in state prison following a guilty plea.
