Councilwoman cautions drivers to be alert on Aug. 8
Article published on Friday, Aug. 4, 2006
PINELLAS PARK – Councilwoman Sandra Bradbury asked residents to keep their eyes on the road when school returns on Aug. 8.

The warning was given at the July 27 City Council meeting.

“Drivers need to be more patient and alert when our children once again return to classrooms,” Bradbury said.

The National Highway and Traffic Administration reports that about 600 students are killed annually in the United States. About 25 of them die in school bus-related mishaps.

Motorists need to be especially careful while backing out of driveways, at or near school bus stops and crosswalks, and around schools.
