Fire Chief Doug Lewis honors Alexander Sintic, 7, as Lt. Julia Heinicka looks on.
PINELLAS PARK – Firefighters at the July 27 City Council meeting recognized a 7-year-old boy who saved his mother’s life and a Clearwater man who pulled two people from a sinking car.

The youngster, Alexander Sintic, last March was alone with his mother, Doris, when she suffered a seizure. The boy called 911, his father, Todd, and his maternal grandmother.

Chief Doug Lewis said the boy then went outside and waited until rescuers arrived. His actions probably saved the woman’s life.

Carl Loudermilk, the second recipient, said he saw a car slam into the mud at 65th Avenue and 45th Street.

Loudermilk arrived at the scene as the car sunk into the murky water with an elderly couple trapped inside. He dragged the woman to safety and then went back for her husband whom he helped to dry land.
