PINELLAS PARK - The Pinellas Park Police Department conducted an alcohol and tobacco enforcement detail Aug. 27, using civilian decoys, in an attempt to combat the sales of the products to underage persons.
The volunteer civilians purchased tobacco at the three locations. Notices to appear were issued to the clerks who were found to be in violation.
Clerks were given notices to appear at the Kwik Stop, 9019 60th St. N.; Wawa’s, 6200 34th St. N.; and Sunoco, 11600 U.S. 19 N.
Clerks at five other locations refused to sell to the civilians participating in the enforcement.
Those stores found in violation will have their cases reviewed by the State Attorney’s Office. Those found in violation will be subject to administrative review by state regulatory agencies that govern alcohol and tobacco sales.
