PINELLAS PARK – Florida Highway Patrol Trooper Trooper Daniel Cole was involved in a shooting that left a suspect injured just before 6 a.m. Sept. 10.
Cole was tracking a LoJack signal for a stolen vehicle, leading him to a garage at the rear of the Royal Palm Cemetery, 2600 Gandy Blvd. in Pinellas Park, according to the agency. As a precaution, Pinellas Park police officers responded as backup.
When Cole approached the garage, he found an armed man and shot him. The injured man – Clifford Work, 48, of Tampa – was transported to Bayfront Medical Center.
Cole, a 13-year veteran, was not injured. Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the shooting.
