A pickup truck is partially inside the stairwell after a crash at an apartment complex Sept. 21.
PINELLAS PARK – A pickup truck drove into the stairwell of an apartment complex Sept. 21, according to the Pinellas Park Fire Department.
Firefighters responded to the Sugarmill Creek Apartments, at 8500 Belcher Road, around 11 a.m. They found a 2003 Dodge Dakota that had crashed into the wall of an outside stairwell.
The 62-year-old driver, who had got out of the truck before crews arrived, said she had recently purchased the vehicle. She was treated at the scene but refused transport to a hospital.
Pinellas Park police questioned her to determine if the driver made an error or if the vehicle malfunctioned.
The building sustained an estimated $3,000 damage, fire department spokesman Gary Berkheimer said. No one was injured.
