PINELLAS PARK – A motorcyclist died Oct. 31 in a single-vehicle crash that occurred in the 5900 block of 78th Avenue in Pinellas Park.
Richard Golden, 31, of St. Petersburg was traveling eastbound on 78th Avenue at a high rate of speed about 11:52 p.m. when he lost control of his motorcycle when crossing the railroad tracks in the 6100 block, according to a report from the Pinellas Park police.
The motorcycle then struck a curb on the south side of the road, also hitting a utility pole, which was severed in half.
Golden was ejected from the motorcycle. He then slid along the roadway before becoming trapped under a parked vehicle in a vacant lot. Officers unsuccessfully tried to free Golden, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 2002 Honda CBR 1000 motorcycle Golden was riding was reported stolen on Oct. 22. Police reported that Golden was on community control and had several warrants out for his arrest.
