LEALMAN – Pinellas County Sheriff’s detectives arrested and charged one of the two suspects Nov. 8, in connection with a double shooting that left one dead Wednesday night in Lealman.
The Sheriff’s homicide and narcotics detectives arrested Jaquan L. Pedigo, 18, of unincorporated St. Petersburg without incident about 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, as he was riding his bicycle.
He was charged with one count of first degree murder and one count of attempted first degree murder. He was booked into the county jail without bond.
The call came in just before 7:30 p.m., Nov. 7, about the shooting on 68th Avenue North. Detectives say a vehicle, possibly white, occupied by two black males pulled up in front of the residence. Two black males were admitted into the house by one of the others present at that time. Detectives say there could have been five persons present in the residence.
The suspects went to one of the back rooms where the shootings occurred, and the two black males left the scene in the white vehicle.
David J. Paonessa, 58, was killed. His wife, Jane Bryant, 66, was shot in the hip and is expected to recover.
Detectives believe the shootings could be drug related. No one else was hurt.
