Traffic detail nets 82 summonses PINELLAS PARK – Police issued 82 summonses on Nov. 11 during a city-wide traffic enforcement event dubbed Operation Slow Them Down. Officer Eric Schroeder said the program took place between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. Although officers worked throughout the city, the main concentration was on U.S. 19 and Bryan Dairy Road. Of the 82 tickets issued to motorists, 33 were for speeding and another 14 were for violating traffic control devices. Other infractions included careless driving, running red lights and violation of right of way. Also, five tickets were issued for driving with a suspended or revoked license with knowledge and one for a miscellaneous criminal violation.
Two arrested for stealing gas PINELLAS PARK – Two South Florida men were arrested on Nov. 7 after a police officer saw them allegedly stealing fuel from a service station. Asdrubal Hernandez, 37, of Hialeah, and Keiler Cruz-Mora, 26, of Miami, were charged with grand theft. They were released from the Pinellas County Jail after posting $2,000 bail. Police said Officer Cassidy Perry was on routine patrol at about 2:10 a.m. when he spotted two men in the parking lot of the 49th Street Food Mart, 4911 110th Ave. A 2004 Freightliner truck and trailer loaded with goods was parked over the store’s underground gas tanks. Police said a rolled up hose and a pump allegedly was used to siphon an undetermined amount of fuel from the underground tanks into the tractor’s two gas tanks.
Mother, daughter nabbed for stealing PINELLAS PARK – A mother and her daughter were arrested on Nov. 8 for allegedly stealing fish tank supplies and clothing from a store. Cynthia W. Conley, 47, and her daughter, Markiesha I. Conley, 18, both of Clearwater, are each charged with retail theft. The elder Conley was released from the Pinellas County Jail after posting $150 bail. Her daughter was released in her own recognizance. Police said the women were stopped as they left the Wal-Mart Super Store at 8001 U.S. 19 without paying for about $14 worth of fish aquarium supplies and $42 in clothing.
Local woman arrested on 17 charges PINELLAS PARK – A young female transient was arrested on Nov. 6. Caroline K. Collado, 20, was charged with four counts of possessing cocaine, one count of possessing marijuana, one count of possessing drug paraphernalia, one count for sale and delivery of cocaine, and a variety of parole violations. Collado remains in the Pinellas County Jail in lieu of $9,800 bail. Police said the suspect was arrested in the 6300 block of Park Boulevard at about 12:30 a.m. during a routine investigation.
Kenneth City man arrested after fight PINELLAS PARK – A Kenneth City man was arrested on Nov. 8 after he allegedly beat a man in a parking lot. Lak J. Souphakhot, 19, was charged with aggravated battery that resulted in physical disfigurement. He was released from the Pinellas County Jail after posting $10,000 bail. Police said the suspect attacked the victim, who was not identified, in the Shoppes at Park Place Mall parking lot on U.S. 19 at about 10:15 p.m. The victim was treated at Northside Hospital in Lealman for various injuries, including the loss of two teeth. The reason for the attack was not immediately known, police said.
Man arrested for attempting to cash a bogus money order PINELLAS PARK – A Oneceo man was arrested on Nov. 5 after he allegedly tried to cash a worthless money order at a check cashing store. Sheldon C. Tynes, 43, was charged with uttering a false document. He was released from the Pinellas County Jail after posting $2,500 bail. Police said Tynes walked into the Amscot store at 4290 Park Blvd. at about 11:45 a.m. and presented a $950 check he wanted to cash. An employee determined that it was fraudulent and called police who arrested the suspect.
