Man killed while fleeing police

PINELLAS PARK – A 24-year-old St. Petersburg man was killed on Nov. 23 as he was allegedly fleeing police.
Pronounced dead at Northside Hospital in Lealman was Morris Feaster who died when his car struck a tree on 49th Street near 94th Avenue.
Police said a police officer on routine patrol at about 3:30 a.m. attempted to stop Feaster who was believed to be driving under the influence. Police said Feaster, whose drivers’ license was suspended last March, was heading south on 49th Street and accelerated at such a high speed that police did not chase the car. Moments later, police said, Feaster apparently lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a tree.
Citizens nab purse snatcher PINELLAS PARK – A St. Petersburg man was arrested on Nov. 24 after two citizens held him following an alleged purse snatching. Timothy L. Hazen, 20, is charged with robbery. He was booked into the Pinellas County Jail.
Police said the 62-year-old victim, who was not identified, was in the Winn-Dixie parking lot, 6501 102nd Ave., at about 5 p.m. While placing groceries into her car the suspect drove up on a motor scooter and allegedly grabbed the woman’s purse from a shopping cart.
The suspect fled, but two citizens chased the suspect to McDonald’s Restaurant, 10191 66th St., and detained Hazen after his scooter struck a curb.
Man charged in shovel attack PINELLAS PARK – A transient on Nov. 14 was arrested after he allegedly attacked a man with a shovel. Daniel Lee, 32, no home, is charged with armed burglary and aggravated assault. He remains in the Pinellas County Jail in lieu of $60,000 bail. Police said the suspect knocked on a door of a home in the 8600 block of 58th Street at about 3 a.m. When the occupant opened the door Lee allegedly struck him over the head with a shovel. The victim, who was not identified, suffered a deep laceration.
Cashier charged with theft PINELLAS PARK – A Seminole woman was arrested after she allegedly pocketed more than $1,300 while tending a cash register. Rebecca A. Leacock, 34, is charged with grand theft. She was booked into the Pinellas County Jail. Police said Leacock was a cashier at the Wal-Mart Super Center, 8001 U.S. 19, when she took the cash from her register on separate occasions.
Woman arrested for theft PINELLAS PARK – A St. Petersburg woman on Nov. 15 was arrested after she allegedly tried to leave a store without paying for merchandise. Patricia L. Seach, 32, is charged with felony retail theft. She was booked into the Pinellas County Jail. Police said the suspect was at the Wal-Mart Super Center, 8001 U.S. 19, when she attempted to leave without paying for clothing, beauty and other items.
Seminole man nabbed for theft PINELLAS PARK – A Seminole man was arrested for stealing a utility knife. Dennis W. Reilly, 35, is charged with felony retail theft. He remains in the Pinellas County Jail in lieu of $2,500 bail. Police said the suspect walked into the CVS Pharmacy, 4700 49th St., and left with the knife in his pocket.
Woman arrested for air theft PINELLAS PARK – A Largo woman was arrested for allegedly stealing two canisters of compressed air dust remover. Candace Kilionski, 28, is charged with retail theft and providing false information to police. She remains in the Pinellas County Jail. Police said Kilionski was at the Wal-Mart Super Center, 8001 U.S. 19, when security officers allegedly saw her steal two cans of compressed air from the electronics department.
