PINELLAS PARK – Pinellas Park police and fire/rescue personnel responded to a three-vehicle crash at the intersection of 49th Street and 62nd Avenue North on Dec. 9 at 1:39 p.m.
Police say Tracy Garon, 58, of St. Petersburg, was operating her 1973 Rolls Royce southbound on 49th Street when she allegedly ran the red light and was struck by a 2007 Toyota Corolla, driven by Carol Cherry, 68, of St. Petersburg, heading westbound. At nearly the same time, Garon was also struck by an eastbound 1996 Mercury Grand Marquis operated by Charles A. Berry, 81, of St. Petersburg. His wife, Carol Berry, 77, also of St. Petersburg, was in the passenger seat.
Charles Berry was transported to Northside Hospital, where he died as a result of his injuries. His wife was transported to Bayfront Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries. Garon suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene, while Cherry was taken to Northside for non-life threatening injuries.
Investigators believe alcohol may have been a factor in the crash, which is still under investigation. No charges have been filed against Garon.
