City Council approves new crime scene deal with sheriff

PINELLAS PARK – The City Council approved an agreement Dec. 13 with the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office to provide crime scene services for the police department.
The $96,313 pact actually is a renewal of an expiring contract. The services are provided at major crime scenes such as homicides.
All Clean Building Services, Inc. of Osprey won a $180,500 contract to handle janitorial services at municipal buildings. Only four bids were received from the 83 that were mailed.
Inter-Bay Electric Co. of Tampa won a $53,892 contract for the installation of a generator and appurtenances at Lift Station No. 32. Only seven potential bidders responded from the 419 that were contacted.
Pinellas County awarded the city a $200,000 Community Development Block Grant for the installation of sidewalks in the Community Development District. The city must put up another $50,000 to complete the project.
The council approved annexations for properties at 6064 108th Ave., 12511 69th St., 6056 109th Ave. and for parcels on 103rd and 104th avenues between 60th and 62nd streets.
In other matters, William Vannatta was reappointed to a three-year term as a member of the city’s general employee’s pension board of trustees. The new term expires in 2011.
Robert Hightower was reappointed to another term as a member of the city’s code enforcement board. Susan Wilson was named to the board of adjustment, replacing Janice Collum whose term expired last month. Connie Bruce was reappointed to the board until 2010.
Named to the library board through 2010 is Lisa Inserra. Jodi Andrews, Marshall Cook, Sharon Goldston and Kim Rose were reappointed to the equestrian board for three-year terms. Connie Bruce, Michael Lohden and Mary Ann Smith were reappointed to the recreation board for three-year terms.
The council approved a new three-year contract with James W. Denhardt to provide legal services for the city.
