SEMINOLE – Congressman Bill Young will be the grand marshal of the city’s annual Pow Wow Festival parade on Saturday, March 10.
His selection ties into this year’s theme, “Let Freedom Ring.”
Young, 81, lives in Indian Shores and has been a longtime supporter of Pinellas County interests.
He served in the Florida Senate before being elected to Congress in 1970. Young has been re-elected 20 times and only once received less than 60 percent of the vote.
He serves on the U.S. House Committee on Appropriations and is chairman of the subcommittee on defense. Young also serves on the subcommittee on military construction, veterans affairs and related agencies.
The annual parade, which travels down 113th Street from the Seminole Mall to the Seminole Recreation Center, is conducted annually in conjunction with the city’s popular Pow Wow Festival.
