SEMINOLE – Pinellas County Sheriff’s detectives are investigating an apparent accidental shooting in Seminole that occurred at about 4:20 p.m. on Sunday, March 2, at a private residence located on 134th Way North in Seminole.
According to detectives, the victim, 14-year-old Andrew Mills and his friend 16-year-old Matthew Emerick came to Matthew’s home after baseball practice on Sunday afternoon. While they were in the house, Matthew came into a room where Andrew was to show him a .22 caliber semi-automatic rifle. While Matthew was showing Andrew the rifle, he accidentally shot Andrew in the abdomen. Andrew was transported to a local hospital via Bayflite with non-life threatening injuries.
No adults were home at the time of the incident. No charges will be filed against the teen.
