SEMINOLE – Most residents of Seminole are a busy group but over the next week they’re going to get a little busier.
The city’s yearly Pow Wow Festival kicks off Friday, March 8, at the Seminole Recreation Center and continues its 3-day run through Sunday, March 10.
Two days after the festival concludes, on Tuesday, March 12, voters who haven’t already cast their ballots by mail will go to the polls to elect a pair of city councilors.
This year’s city election features four candidates seeking two non-partisan seats on the seven-member City Council.
Incumbents Thomas Barnhorn and Jim Quinn are going against perennial challenger Tom Christy and a new name this year – Matt Nilssen, who has chosen not to continue his campaign since filing with the city clerk’s office back in December.
The two top vote-getters will earn terms of three years, eight months as the city slowly makes a transition toward November elections.
